Huntington Chamber’s Veterans and Women in Business: Women Veterans Breakfast and Browse

Join the Huntington Chamber’s Veterans and Women in Business Committee as they invite all female veterans to a casual morning of clothing browsing, accompanied by a light breakfast. The committee seeks to support women veterans by collecting gently-used business attire, casual clothing and shoes. You can drop off donations at the Huntington Chamber, 164 Main Street, Huntington, NY until Nov. 13. The event will be held on Nov. 18, 2015 at 8:30 a.m.

Join the Bronx Chamber of Commerce for brunch, followed by a job and resource fair. Members are $30, non-members are $35, and the event is complimentary for veterans and active duty military. Ziva Meditation

Join Ziva Meditation for a free, introductory class. It’s free of charge for veterans and police officers and will give students a foundational basis for learning about the practice of meditation. The event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m.

St. Joseph’s College Care Package Project

St. Joseph’s College and the SJC Student Veterans of America are collecting items for care packages that will be sent to airmen overseas in Kuwait. Most of these care packages will be sent to men and women from the immediate area, including some SJC alumni. St. Joseph’s College and the SJC Student Veterans of America will be collecting items throughout November, including snacks, toiletries and entertainment materials. To donate, visit the Veterans Lounge in O’Connor Hall, the Veterans Resource Center (Room N224) or the Office of Student Involvement and Leadership (Room N307).

Donation ideas include: beef jerky, sunflower seeds, hot chocolate and tea, chips, microwaveable food, gum and hard candies, cookies; shampoo/conditioner, body and face wash, lotion, deodorant (travel-sized), shaving cream, disposable razors, feminine hygiene products, sunblock and aloe gel; batteries, DVDs, video games, board games, dominoes/cards/dice/poker chips, pen and note pads, handheld games, white ankle socks and black winter beanies.
